Bánh mì devotees of Melbourne, listen up!

Ba’get, a food store devoted to the humble Vietnamese roll, has opened its Russell Street doors today, serving delicious street eats for under $10!

Owner Duy Huynh comes from a long line of traditional bánh mì vendors, with his parents having owned and operated the renowned Fresh Chilli Deli in Sunshine for over 25 years.

The focus at Ba’get is to make authentic, true-to-form bánh mì. We’ve gotta say, Ba’get has pretty much hit the nail on the head: crusty bread (baked hourly to ensure freshness), authentic house-made charcuterie, pickled vegetables, a generous smear of paté, loads of Asian herbs and, of course, a healthy dose of fresh red chillies. There's something to suit all lunch time fancies, with everything from grilled lemongrass pork to Buddah’s tofu set to line your baguette. Need to grab a quick breakfast on your way to the office? Look no further than an Egg and Bacon Ba’get – the kick of chilli will get you up and moving!

Along with their glorious bánh mì rolls, they also serve up hot, flaky pork puffs and tasty gluten-free vermicelli bowls. Sweet tooths need not fret, Ba’get has you covered with authentic Vietnamese dessert offerings, including sesame donuts, cassava cake, and coconut and durian buns. Make sure you wash it all down with potent quantities of traditional Vietnamese coffee stained with condensed milk. Yum!

Best of all? A bánh mì and drink will cost you less than $10. Cheapy, tasty Vietnamese street eats – what's not to love?
